Former UNC guard Jeremiah Francis, who recently revealed his intentions to transfer to another school in pursuit of more playing time, announced Friday that he will be transferring to New Mexico.

Francis played in 16 games for the Tar Heels this past season as a freshman, averaging 3.3 points and 1.6 assists per game.

Knee injuries have plagued Francis over the past few years, as he missed each of his final two years of high school and some time at UNC because of them.

He plans to apply for a waiver from the NCAA to try and become immediately eligible at New Mexico.
