The No. 22 UNC baseball team rolled to a 7-1 victory over previously undefeated Elon on Tuesday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium behind four hits and four RBIs from freshman catcher Eric Grints, as the Tar Heels improved to 4-0 to begin the 2020 campaign.

Grintz had three singles in the early portion of the game, and a double which plated two runners in the bottom of the eighth inning to spearhead the Tar Heel offensive attack. In total, Grintz was responsible for four of UNC’s 10 hits on the day.

“He’s unconscious at the plate right now,” UNC head coach Mike Fox said afterwards about Grintz.

The Tar Heel pitching staff also combined to strike out 15 hitters, with Caden O’Brien, Kyle Mott, Gage Gillian and Shawn Rapp all getting in on the action.

Elon fell to 3-1 with the loss.
