Following the completion of Thursday night’s NBA Draft Lottery, ESPN released a full mock draft with former UNC point guard Cole Anthony projected to go No. 15 overall to the Orlando Magic.
This represents a bit of a stock drop for Anthony, as he arrived at UNC and spent most of his only season on campus with the idea that he would be among the top five or 10 selections.
At No. 15, Anthony would be the first player taken outside of the lottery–which includes the top 14 picks.
During his lone season with the Tar Heels, Anthony averaged 18.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He shot just 38 percent from the floor, however, as opposing teams were able to spotlight him on defense due to UNC’s lack of other offensive threats.
In addition, Anthony missed 11 games during the middle of the season with a partially torn meniscus.
ESPN’s NBA Draft expert, Jonathan Givony, wrote in the mock draft article that, “Anthony is an explosive scorer with impressive shot-making prowess who brings an aggressive approach on both ends of the floor. Having come into this draft as a projected top-five pick, Anthony has plenty of upside to tap into long term as well.”
