Despite losing 38-31 to Virginia at home this past Saturday, a pair of Tar Heels were recognized by the ACC on Monday as Players of the Week thanks to an offensive outburst that kept UNC competitive in the game.
Sophomore Dyami Brown was the league’s Receiver of the Week after catching six passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns–two of which went for at least 40 yards. His yardage total ranked seventh all-time on the UNC single-game school record list, while his three touchdowns were the most by a Tar Heel since current Philadelphia Eagle Mack Hollins had three against Wake Forest back in 2015.
Quarterback Sam Howell was also named the ACC Freshman of the Week after completing just 15 passes for a whopping 353 yards and four touchdowns. Factoring in a negative rushing total, his 350 combined yards were the most at UNC player has ever posted against Virginia.
