UNC sophomore designated hitter Aaron Sabato was selected Tuesday as a Preseason First Team All-American at his position by Perfect Game.

As a freshman in 2019, Sabato exploded onto the scene with one of the best offensive seasons by a Tar Heel hitter of all time. The native of Rye Brook, NY led UNC with a .343 batting average and 18 home runs–breaking the program’s single season record for home runs by a freshman previously held by Chad Flack (15).

In conference play, Sabato hit .358–showing he has the ability to step his game up against elite competition as well.

Sabato was the 2019 ACC Freshman of the Year and also became the first Tar Heel to hit for the cycle since 2012 when he accomplished the feat on May 16 against NC State.
