The No. 11 UNC men’s soccer team closed out its regular-season home slate with a bang on Sunday, defeating Louisville 2-0 on Senior Night at Dorrance Field.

Carolina controlled play from the opening kickoff, leading 10-3 on shots in the first half. One of those shots came from Quenzi Huerman in the third minute and gave UNC an early lead. It’s Huerman’s team-leading eighth goal of the season.

The Tar Heels would wait nearly the entire game to add insurance, but finally got it from Andrew Czech in the 87th minute to put the match on ice. In the meantime, Carolina goalie Andrew Cordes made three saves on his way to his sixth clean sheet of the season. UNC still hasn’t allowed more than one goal in any single match this season.

The win snaps Carolina out of a brief funk: the Tar Heels had gone winless in their last three conference matches. The team is now 7-2-5 overall and 2-2-3 in conference play heading into its final fixture of the regular season, a road date at Virginia on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The ACC Tournament begins the following week.
