The official seeds for the 2018 ACC men’s soccer tournament have been set, with UNC receiving the No. 2 overall seed and a bye before its first game.

The Tar Heels finished the regular season with a 12-2-1 record (6-1-0 ACC), but missed out on an opportunity to earn another conference win due to last week’s cancellation against Virginia due to weather.

UNC will play the winner of No. 10 seed Syracuse and No. 7 Virginia Tech on November 4 at Finley South in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels have not played Syracuse this year, but picked up a 1-0 victory over Virginia Tech on October 6.

The rest of Carolina’s side of the bracket features No. 3 Duke, No. 6 Virginia and No. 11 seed. The other side of the bracket features No. 1 seed Wake Forest, No. 3 Louisville, No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 8 NC State, No. 9 Boston College and No. 12 Clemson.

Although the start of the Men’s NCAA Tournament is weeks away, UNC was ranked as the No. 3 overall seed by the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Committee following the conclusion of the regular season.

The two teams ranked ahead of the Tar Heels were Wake Forest, who has compiled a 15-1-0 record so far this season, and Indiana, who has a 13-2-0 record. UNC played Indiana in one of the first games of the season, with the Hoosiers coming out on top with a 1-0 victory at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.
