UNC beat Georgetown 81-61 at the Smith Center Sunday night. Check out what the Tar Heels had to say after the win:

Caleb Wilson

On his performance: I just try not to force stuff. Just play the game, find who’s open, tell my teammates to get in a position where I can see them and just let it happen. I have to be able to see what’s going on around me. It’s something I had to get used to, especially going against people who are bigger. Usually I can just shoot over anybody. I still can, but just knowing I can get somebody else a better shot.

On the influence of NBA legend Kobe Bryant on his game: He’s my favorite player. His game and also his mentality, his work ethic. I watch a lot of Kobe, and I feel like it’s gonna be really important. Because just like me, he faced double teams, and he had to figure out how to maneuver and work through it.

On the combination of him and Henri Veesaar: They’re gonna focus on me every game, and I feel like they’re gonna have to start focusing on both of us. That’ll make it better for both of us as we play alongside each other.

Derek Dixon

On finishing the game strong: Every huddle, we told them, ‘Finish it. Finish it. Don’t let your foot off the gas.’ Really being focused on that, not easing up and playing until the final whistle.

On Seth Trimble’s presence during his rehab: His leadership has been great, even more so since he’s gotten hurt. Just him giving us energy, keeping us confident, telling us what we need to hear, it’s been really good for us.

On the team’s three-point shooting: Spacing the floor is a big thing. We have such a great inside presence, them being able to kick it out and us being able to knock down shots. I thought we got some really good looks tonight. Jarin [Stevenson] had some really good looks, those are gonna fall. JP [Jonathan Powell] had some good looks, those are gonna fall. We have a lot of good shooters on this team, and we’re confident in them when they’re open.

Henri Veesaar

On the team learning from its most recent four-game stretch: I thought we learned from the loss to Michigan State. That’s a game where we got punked. They were the more physical team, they were more controlled, they got in the paint however they wanted to. They were dictating the game, not us. So I think that was big, for us to assert our will in the games after that and realize what we need to do to win games.

On Luka Bogavac’s growth: He’s definitely getting used to the pace of the game and the physicality. When you come here, it’s difficult. They call the games a little bit different. The travels are a little bit different. The fouls are a little bit different. Those little adjustments and getting used to the type of game here. But now, he’s playing awesome. He’s not turning the ball over. He’s making good assists all the time. He’s helping others score. He’s scoring himself at will. That’s big-time for us.

On Caleb Wilson’s performance: He was very efficient, just the way he played. Against Kentucky, he got doubled sometimes and he would take a little bit of a tougher shot. But he’s a great athlete, so he got his own miss, so we can’t say anything about it. Michigan State, the same way. They put two on him. Now he’s getting used to it. He’s anticipating. He’ll catch it and he’s not going quickly. He’s waiting to see where the double is coming from, who’s doubling, where are the openings. He’s a really high-IQ basketball player, so whatever he does is a good choice.
