On the men’s side, Carolina raced out of the gate with 10 goals in the first quarter alone, blowing the game open inside of 15 minutes. UNC led by as much as 13-1 before finally taking its foot off the gas pedal. Owen Duffy scored a pair of goals in the opening 6:27 and assisted on four more before the day was done for a team-high six points. Junior midfielder Dewey Egan finished with a hat trick after scoring just two goals in the season’s first five games.
As a team, UNC outshot Hofstra 22-2 in the first quarter and finished with a 48-31 advantage.

Chloe Humphrey scored three goals in a span of less than six minutes to give UNC an early 9-2 lead, though Virginia closed the deficit to 10-7 at halftime. Carolina then dominated after the break, outscoring the Cavaliers 10-1 in the second half to earn another convincing victory.
