The UNC field hockey team’s national title defense will take the Tar Heels from coast to coast, as the program has published its 2024 regular season schedule.

After a pair of scrimmages against Duke and Wake Forest in August, Carolina will open with four consecutive games away from Chapel Hill. The opener on August 30 sees UNC visit Michigan in Ann Arbor as part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Carolina will also face Iowa on September 1 in Ann Arbor as part of the event.

The Tar Heels will then head to Louisville the next weekend to face Penn on September 6 and Princeton on September 8 as part of the ACC-Ivy League Conference Crossover. Carolina’s home opener at Karen Shelton Stadium will come on Friday, September 20 against Syracuse.

Another notable road trip sees UNC travel to the west coast for road matchups against ACC debutantes Stanford (October 4) and Cal (October 6). It’s part of a stretch of five consecutive road games for Carolina, including visits to Liberty (September 22), Louisville (October 11) and Appalachian State (October 13). Nine of the team’s first 10 games will come away from home.

Carolina will then host Wake Forest (October 18), Old Dominion (October 20), Virginia (October 25), and Boston College (October 27) before ending the season at Duke on November 1. The ACC Tournament begins the following week in Winston-Salem.

UNC is the two-time defending national champion and will be entering its second season under head coach Erin Matson. For a full look at the team’s 2024 schedule, click here. Some dates and times are subject to change due to TV broadcast assignments.
