Charly Bruder led another dominant effort by Carolina on Wednesday in the ACC semifinals as the No. 1 seed Tar Heels defeated No. 5 Syracuse 3-1 in Winston-Salem.

Bruder, a first team All-ACC honoree, scored her team-leading 24th and 25th goals of the season to open the scoring in the second quarter. UNC carried that 2-0 lead into halftime, and Pleun Lammers added a third in the third quarter.

Despite a Syracuse goal in the fourth quarter, Carolina held a 17-4 edge in total shots and an 8-3 advantage in shots on target. UNC goalie Abigail Taylor made two saves on the day, including one in the final minutes of the fourth quarter as the Orange tried to stage a rally.

The victory advances Carolina into Friday’s ACC championship game, which will come against either No. 2 seed Duke or No. 3 seed Boston College. The Tar Heels are the seven-time defending ACC Tournament champions and have won 26 ACC Tournament titles overall. The championship game will begin at noon and will be broadcast on ACC Network.
