An offensive onslaught helped Carolina dominate No. 9 Boston College at Karen Shelton Stadium on Sunday, as the Tar Heels beat the Eagles 4-0 to remain unbeaten in 2024.

Kelly Smith, Ryleigh Heck, Jasmina Smolenaars and Sanne Hak each found the back of the cage for UNC. It was the first career goal for Smith in her 72nd start as a Tar Heel. The back from Pennsylvania was also celebrating her Senior Day.

The four goals were part of a 26-6 overall shot advantage for Carolina. UNC also held a 16-5 edge in shots on target. In the Tar Heel cage, goalie Abigail Taylor made four saves to secure the team’s ninth shutout win in 14 games this season.

The victory keeps Carolina’s place atop the ACC standings secure heading into the final week of the regular season. The Tar Heels sit at 7-0 in league play and 14-0 overall. They are the only unbeaten team remaining in the conference and one of just two unbeaten teams nationwide, along with No. 1 Northwestern.

UNC can clinch the ACC regular-season title next week when it visits No. 10 Duke in Durham on Friday at 6 p.m. It’s the final game of the regular season for both teams.
