The Diamond Heels will play a fall scrimmage against rival NC State at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in October, the program announced Wednesday. The game is scheduled for Thursday, October 16 at 6 p.m.

Though UNC regularly hosts fall scrimmages at Boshamer Stadium, next month’s game will be the first time Carolina and NC State will have played a fall scrimmage in Durham. The game will wrap up the fall season for head coach Scott Forbes’ program, which will open the 2026 regular season in February.

“We are really excited about the opportunity to play a great game in Durham and showcase how our players and program are working to get better every day,” Forbes said. “We thank the Bulls for the use of their park – Carolina has made a lot of great memories there and we look forward to making more. We hope our fans come out and get loud for some Fall baseball”

UNC won the 2025 ACC Tournament at Durham Bulls Athletic Park this past May, defeating Boston College, Florida State and Clemson on its way to the title. The Diamond Heels also have experience against NC State at the “DBAP,” defeating the Wolfpack in an epic, 18-inning contest in the 2013 ACC Tournament. The game drew 11,392 spectators, setting a new record for attendance at a college baseball game in North Carolina.

Carolina’s other fall scrimmages include an exhibition against Walters State at Boshamer Stadium on October 3 and the intra-squad Fall World Series, which begins October 7. Admission to these events is free.

Tickets to the scrimmage against NC State are available for $15 on the Durham Bulls’ website.
