The Diamond Heels let out their frustrations from losses at NC State on Thursday and Friday nights by blowing out the Wolfpack in the third game of the series on Saturday, 14-3. Carolina still has not been swept this season.

The Tar Heels put up five runs in the top of the third and another in the top of the fourth to seize an early 6-0 lead and cruised from there. In the third, Casey Cook got the scoring started with a two-RBI single, and then he came in to score on an error on a pickoff attempt. Luke Stevenson added another run with a sacrifice fly, and another Wolfpack error on the ensuing throw brought in the fifth run of the frame.

An Alex Madera solo home run made it 6-0 in the fourth, and the Tar Heels continued to pile it on in the sixth with a two-RBI triple from Vance Honeycutt and a sacrifice fly from Cook. Honeycutt had four hits on the day and stole two bases, making him the only player in the history of the ACC with 50 career home runs and 70 career stolen bases.

Colby Wilkerson got in on the scoring in the late innings, bringing in Madera with a double in the seventh and then hitting his fourth career home run in the top of the ninth.

On the mound, Aidan Haugh earned his third win of the season by tossing six innings while allowing just two runs. He struck out three and walked one. Matt Poston and Connor Bovair combined for the final three innings of relief.

With the win, Carolina is now 30-10 overall and 15-6 in ACC play. The Diamond Heels will return home on Tuesday night when they host Gardner-Webb at Boshamer Stadium to kick off a 10-game homestand.
