Former UNC women’s soccer standout Lucy Bronze earned perhaps the most prestigious award of her career on Thursday, as she was named the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year.

The award is given to the best player in all of European club competition.

Bronze beat out a pair of her teammates from French club Lyon–Ada Hegerberg and Amandine Henry–in order to win the award. She becomes the first English-born player to win the honor as well.

This past summer at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Bronze won the Silver Ball as the tournament’s second best player despite only reaching the semifinals with England.
