For the second straight year, the Chapel Hill High School boys’ soccer team has won the 3A state championship.

The Tigers defeated Marvin Ridge 1-0 on Saturday in Raleigh to claim the title, in what was their third straight appearance in the championship game overall.

A header from Kalvin Matishack in the 20th minute served as the game’s only goal, as Chapel Hill avenged its loss to Marvin Ridge back in the 2016 state finals.

This is the fifth state title in the sport in Chapel Hill’s school history.

The Tigers end the year with a record of 22-3-1.
