The UNC football program has its second commitment out of the transfer portal: offensive lineman Austin Blaske, who spent the last four seasons at Georgia.

Blaske first arrived in Athens in 2020 as a three-star prospect and the No. 42 offensive tackle in the country. After redshirting his true freshman season, he saw action in several games across the 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons. Injuries limited Blaske to just three appearances in 2023.

Blaske does have previous connections to North Carolina. He was originally committed to NC State coming out of high school, but flipped to the Bulldogs just days before signing.

Blaske will likely get plenty of chances to start on the offensive line at Carolina. Four contributors along the line – William Barnes, Corey Gaynor, Ed Montilus and Spencer Rolland – will have exhausted their college eligibility after the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on December 27. As a rising redshirt senior who participated in the 2020 season, Blaske will have two years of eligibility with Carolina.

The addition of Blaske gives Carolina two commitments out of the transfer portal during this cycle. Former LSU and Texas A&M quarterback Max Johnson committed to the Tar Heels on November 29.
