Drake Maye and Antoine Green lit it up for the UNC football team against Pitt on Saturday night, and on Monday both players received weekly honors from the ACC. Maye was named the conference’s Quarterback of the Week and Green its Wide Receiver of the Week.

This is the fourth time this season Maye has been named ACC Quarterback of the Week. The redshirt freshman set career highs in completions (33, also a UNC freshman record), attempts (44) and passing yards (388) and tossed five touchdowns for the third time in 2022. Maye also rushed for 61 yards and finished as Carolina’s leading rusher. He accounted for 95 percent of the team’s offense against the Panthers.

Maye was also named to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 award list for Week 9.

It was also a career night for Green, whose 10 receptions and 180 receiving yards were both career bests. Green caught two touchdowns against the Panthers, which were Carolina’s first and last of the game. He and teammate Josh Downs became the first pair of UNC receivers ever to each record 100-yard receiving games in back-t0-back weeks.

Maye, Green and the rest of the Tar Heels will be back in action when UNC travels up to Charlottesville to take on Virginia this Saturday. The game will kick off at noon.
