On Monday, January 15, TABLE moved the last items out of its old space at 209 East Main Street and formally moved to 311 East Main Street in Carrboro. Marking a “significant milestone in TABLE’s history,” according to a press release from the nonprofit, the move provides TABLE with the space to expand programming and work toward its goal to feed 1,000 kids each week in 2024.
“We want to thank everyone for believing in our mission and for helping us achieve our dream of having a permanent home to expand our programming,” said Ashton Tippins, executive director of TABLE, in the release. “As we begin this new phase in TABLE’s journey, we can’t wait to travel this road with everyone, especially with all the children and families we serve and will serve in the future!”
For 15 years, TABLE has operated without a permanent space and under 2,000 square feet. During this time, TABLE has also grown from feeding 12 kids at one elementary school to more than 850 children throughout Orange County and has grown its programming to also include providing nutrition education.
TABLE’s new home in Carrboro has 8,000 square feet and — after renovations are complete — will boast a larger warehouse space and increased storage capacity, a loading dock for larger deliveries, meeting spaces and a well-equipped kitchen.
