The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a High Wind Warning Friday morning for much of north central North Carolina, including Orange County.

NWS officials are projecting sustained winds to be above 40 miles per hour with gust up to near 60 mph. Significant power outages could occur due to downed trees and power lines.

The possibility of downed trees is coming after rain fell across the Triangle all day on Thursday.

The High Wind Warning is in effect until 10 p.m. Friday.
