The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Orange County into Thursday night as a band of storms travels across the state.

The agency issued the message around 6:30 p.m. and said the warning will last through 9:30 p.m. for both Orange County and Durham County. Thunderstorms are expected to travel east in the direction of the Interstate 85 corridor.

Alamance County to the west was issued the same warning earlier in the evening.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the region shortly after.
