Three additional COVID-19 clusters have been identified at the Craige and Avery residence halls and Alpha Delta Pi sorority house, UNC announced over the weekend.

There have now been ten coronavirus clusters reported around UNC’s campus. On Friday, the university reported another cluster at Carmichael residence hall.

The AlertCarolina said individuals in the cluster have been identified and are isolating while receiving medical monitoring. A cluster is five or more positive COVID-19 cases, according to state health guidelines.

The university announced last week it would be conducting mass testing of students still housed residence halls experiencing clusters, which includes Granville Towers, Ehringhaus and Hinton James. Testing will run from Friday through Sunday, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Orange County Health Department.

As of Friday, UNC is reporting 617 cumulative cases on campus: 566 students and 51 employees. Classes will be paused on Monday and Tuesday next week as the university transitions to virtual undergraduate classes for the remainder of the semester.
