****UPDATE: DOT officials say the lane has reopened for holiday travel.****

A wreck has left one lane of northbound I-85 near the Old 86 exit in Orange County Wednesday afternoon adding to delays from congestion of Thanksgiving holiday travel.

AAA Carolinas predicted a record number of North Carolinians would be traveling more than 50 miles from their home over the Thanksgiving holiday period and projected the peak traffic volume to occur between three and five o’clock Wednesday afternoon.

The crash was reported by the North Carolina Department of Transportation just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

There is no word as of this posting as to any injuries sustained in the crash or when the interstate would be fully re-opened.
