A lane of I-40 in Orange County will be closed beginning Tuesday night as crews are working on maintenance issues.

North Carolina Department of Transportation officials say a damaged shoulder and drains prompted the maintenance work.

A lane closure will take place over the next three nights from nine o’clock until six o’clock in the morning.

Officials say crews will be working in the roadway to replace new pipes and backfill the shoulder.

The work is expected to take place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights wrapping up at six o’clock Friday morning.
