Franklin Street between Boundary Street and Deming Drive is currently closed due to downed power lines and might not reopen until at least midday.

The Chapel Hill Police reports that a car struck a power pole at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The driver of the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Power lines stretched across all lanes shutting down the road in both directions.

Duke Energy crews are currently on the scene tending to the issue, but they told the Chapel Hill Police that the road might not be reopened until between 12:00 noon and 3:00 p.m.

**Per CHPD: the revised re-opening time is 5:00 p.m.
