Construction has closed a portion of a Chatham County thoroughfare until the middle of 2017.
Crews with the North Carolina Department of Transportation will be closing and replacing a bridge over Robeson Creek on Highway 87/902 in Pittsboro. While that work is ongoing, the roadway will be closed to through traffic from Pittsboro Elementary School Road through Churchwood Lane.
A detour has been established that will push motorists onto Old Goldston Road.
Construction is expected to last through July 12, 2017.
