A Duke Energy outage in Chapel Hill left around 10,800 customers without power for nearly an hour on Friday morning.
The energy company reported several outages appearing to stem from Dobbins Drive, with a loss of power reported shortly before 9 a.m. Customers ranging from as far north as Weaver Dairy Road and east as Ephesus Church Road to as far south as Raleigh Road and west as Hillsborough Street experienced outages.
Around 9:30 a.m., however, power was rerouted and restored. The outage lasted approximately 40 minutes, according to Duke Energy.
Police reported several traffic lights and intersections being out as a result of no power. A spokesperson for the Chapel Hill Police Department urged drivers to treat broken stoplights an intersections as four-way stops before advancing.
