With the school year just around the corner, Seawell Elementary School is about to get a new leader.
On Tuesday, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education named Minnie Goins as Seawell’s next principal.
A graduate of NC Central and UNC, Goins is returning to Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools after a previous stint as principal at Glenwood Elementary. Goins is coming to Seawell from Orange County’s Efland Cheeks Global Elementary School, where she currently serves as principal.
Goins was named Orange County Schools Principal of the Year in 2019.
Goins will replace Arrica DuBose, who has served as Seawell’s principal since 2017. DuBose is leaving that position to take over as the CHCCS district’s executive director of federal and instructional programs.
CHCCS said Thursday Goins will take over as Seawell’s principal on October 4.
The new academic year is set to begin for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools on Monday, August 23.
