Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools saw improvements across all their schools’ SAT scores this past year and held the highest combined score in North Carolina, according to released 2019 SAT results.

Nearly 70 percent of high school seniors within the school system took the SAT. With combined composite scores from the verbal and math portions of the test, CHCCS students had a combined score of 1,287, which is a 27 point increase from 2018. Since 2016, CHCCS scores have increased by 82 points.

Each high school earned its highest average score ever. In addition, East Chapel Hill High School’s combined score of 1,301 is the highest of any traditional public high school in North Carolina this year. Carrboro High scored 1,290 and Chapel Hill High scored 1,272.

These scores greatly exceed the state and national average scores. The North Carolina average composite score was 1,091, while the United States average was 1,039.
