Ramesh Dahal, owner of the recently-opened MoMo’s Master restaurant on North Columbia Street in Chapel Hill, is set to open another business downtown.

Dahal told Chapelboro he is taking over the space formerly occupied by Jed’s Kitchen at 105 East Franklin Street and converting it into Basecamp, a bar featuring “authentically made organic street food from different countries around the world.”

MoMo’s Master held its soft opening in late November 2021, and due to the early success of that business, Dahal is ready to move forward with Basecamp, which will occupy the same corner as MoMo’s Master.

“I decided to open Basecamp because of the support I have received from Chapel Hill,” Dahal told Chapelboro. “Customers love the food and everyone is very supportive of what we do at MoMo’s… I want to create a place to foster good experiences for everyone in this town.”

Dahal described Basecamp as “the launchpad for every event. Bar crawls, parties, graduation. If you’re having a big night, you [should] meet up at Basecamp.”

Basecamp’s initial menu, provided by Dahal, will feature a selection of shots and cocktails, beer and wine, and small plates ranging from onion rings to kimchi. The menu also features a range of kebab options.

According to Dahal, Basecamp is currently finalizing its interior design, with the goal of opening in early April.
