***UPDATE: Officials say the tree has been removed and the Riverwalk is now open.***

A portion of Riverwalk Greenway in Hillsborough will be closed on Friday due to a dead tree leaning over on the trail.

The leaning tree is located along the low boardwalk that connects the trail’s downtown entrance to River Park.

The Hillsborough Public Works Department is working to remove the tree and reopen the entire trail by five o’clock Friday evening.

Other portions of the trail will remain open, but citizens are asked to heed closing signs and barricades for safety.
