Chapel Hill is inviting residents to a drop-in session at the police substation in University Place to weigh in on the town’s Charting Our Future initiative.
Charting Our Future is the town’s latest plan to reshape its land use approach. The project will focus on the first major update to the town’s land use map ordinance in over a decade. The initiative will also refine the town’s land use map for 2020 and 2049.
Town manager Roger Stancil presented an update on the plan to the town council in late June saying that the recommendation will be to focus on three areas to improve the connection between gateways into Chapel Hill.
“Our recommendation is that the extension to the downtown of Carrboro, the extension of NC 54 to 15-501 and expansion to both sides of Homestead Road are done immediately, and we incorporate that into the work we’re currently doing,” he said.
The drop-in sessions will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday and Friday through September, according to the town. The police substation where the sessions will be held is located in University Place near Southern Season.
More information on Charting Our Future is available here.
