More and more town and county boards are returning to session as we get further into the fall. Most of the agendas this week are relatively light, but there are still some significant items – including budget votes for Orange County’s two school districts, and possible annexations in Chapel Hill.

Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.

Orange County

The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners meets Monday, September 12, at 7:00 p.m. in Town Hall Annex. Board members will get an update on the town’s strategic plan and look ahead to their work session later this month. Get the full agenda at this link.

The Orange County School Board also meets Monday evening, with an open session beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Whitted Building in Hillsborough. Board members will vote on final approval for this year’s budget, and they’ll get an update on the district’s strategic plan. Click here for the agenda.

Orange County Commissioners are holding a work session Tuesday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m., also in the Whitted Building. Commissioners will hear a presentation on property tax assessments from the UNC School of Government; they’ll receive a repot from a work group on school capital needs; and they’ll discuss appointments to various county boards and commissions. Get a link to the full agenda here.

The Chapel Hill Town Council meets Wednesday, September 14, at 7:00 p.m. in Town Hall. Council members will consider annexing some property north of town on Eubanks Road and Millhouse Road, and they’ll hear plans for several developments, including one in the Gateway area on Lakeview Drive off 15/501. And the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School Board meets Thursday, September 15, at 6:00 p.m. in the Southern Human Services Center on Homestead Road. Like the Orange County school board, CHCCS board members will vote on final approval for this year’s budget – and like Orange County Commissioners, they’ll hear an update on the district’s capital needs. Chatham and Durham Counties

There are two meetings in Chatham County on Monday, September 12.
