This series of posts will be made weekly on Chapelboro to help inform our community about local government meetings. All meeting days, locations and times may be subject to change. Check town, county, and school district websites for additional information.

This week is a lighter one in local government, but not for lack of trying. The Orange County Board of Adjustment was set to meet on March 12 with a very high-profile agenda item – a discussion of plans for a large amphitheater, hotel, pavilion and event space at Union Grove Farm (formerly Maple View Farm), which has drawn a lot of pushback from nearby residents – but that meeting has been postponed to a later date. Nevertheless, there are still a number of key items on the local government agenda this week – most notably at the Chapel Hill Town Council, which will consider a Brownfields Agreement for the police station property at 828 MLK Boulevard, a plot of land that contains coal ash deposits. Also, the Hillsborough town board will meet on Monday to consider reducing the speed limit on Route 70, after a crash that killed a pedestrian last year.

Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
