As we head further into June, more and more local government boards are wrapping up business ahead of their summer breaks. There’s still quite a bit of business to attend to, though: this week, Durham County Commissioners and the Hillsborough and Pittsboro town boards all vote to approve budget plans for the upcoming fiscal year, while the Chapel Hill Town Council receives updates on bus rapid transit and the future of 828 MLK Boulevard.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.
Orange County
The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners meets at 7 p.m. Monday, June 9. Click here for the full agenda, which includes a tentative vote to adopt a budget plan for the upcoming fiscal year. (A final vote will take place later this month.)
The Chapel Hill Town Council meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 11. Council members will vote on a proclamation recognizing Pride Month and receive updates on plans for North-South Bus Rapid Transit and the property at 828 MLK Boulevard that currently houses police headquarters. And the Orange County School Board meets Monday, June 9, at 7 p.m. in the Whitted Building. Click here for the agenda, which includes an update on the district’s school nutrition program including summer food service.
Chatham and Durham Counties
The Pittsboro Board of Commissioners meets at 6 p.m. Monday, June 9. Board members will take a final vote on next year’s budget and consider expanding Pittsboro’s downtown social district. Get the full agenda at this link.
Durham County Commissioners meet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 9. Commissioners will vote to approve next year’s budget plan and adopt proclamations recognizing Pride Month and Juneteenth. Click here for the full agenda.
