It’s a light week for local government, as Orange County Commissioners, the Chapel Hill Town Council, and the Hillsborough town board all have the week off. But it’s also still budget season, and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school board will be tackling that issue when they meet on Thursday.

Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties.

Orange County

The Carrboro Town Council meets on Tuesday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in Town Hall. This week’s agenda is light, but includes a public hearing on a text amendment to the town’s land use ordinance. Get the full agenda here.

And the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School Board meets Thursday, April 21, at 6 p.m. in the Southern Human Services Center. The board will consider approving a budget request to send to the Orange County Board of Commissioners. Click here for the full agenda.

Chatham and Durham Counties

Chatham County Commissioners will receive a third-quarter budget update when they hold a work session on Monday, April 18, at 2 p.m. in the historic courthouse in Pittsboro. Click here for the full agenda.

In Durham, Mayor Elaine O’Neal will deliver the State of the City address when the Durham City Council meets on Monday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in City Hall. The City Council is also holding a work session Thursday, April 21, at 1 p.m.; among other agenda items, council members will continue the process of selecting a new council member to fill a current vacancy. And the Durham Public School Board has two meetings this week. On Tuesday, April 19, the board will meet with elected officials at 8 a.m.; then the board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fuller Administration Building on Cleveland Street. The agenda for that meeting has not yet been posted, but will be available later in the week at this link.
