Habitat for Humanity of Orange County is currently accepting applications for those looking to own one of four units to be constructed along Cobb Street in Carrboro.
The Carrboro Town Council recently awarded Habitat for Humanity $100,000 from its Affordable Housing Special Revenue fund to support the building of two new duplexes on the street, which is in the Northside neighborhood.
The non-profit, whose Orange County organization has served more than 260 families since its foundation in 1984, specializes in building affordable households to improve home ownership. With this project, the duplexes provide four new units for community members to move into.
Carrboro Communications Manager Catherine Lazorko spoke with 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck about the project following the town council’s approval.
“These homes will be energy-efficient and affordable to households earning between 30-80% of the area median income,” said Lazorko.
Those looking to apply for one of the four units to be constructed by Habitat for Humanity should call 919-932-7077 or email applications@orangehabitat.org, according to the non-profit. Applications for the Cobb Street duplexes will close on Friday, November 20.
