The Town of Chapel Hill is asking for community input on celebrations like the Fourth of July and Festifall.

“As we look forward to a post-pandemic world, we are first taking a step back to consider what our community needs and wants to celebrate,” said a release from the town. “Over the next two weeks, residents are invited to share their personal thoughts about Chapel Hill celebrations by completing an online survey and/or participating in a virtual open house.”

Questions in the online survey ask how residents perceive festivals, what roles festivals play in their lives and what other events they would like to see celebrated in the community.

The survey is available online here in English and Spanish.

In addition, community members can sign up for a virtual Zoom meeting to discuss festivals and events in Chapel Hill. The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 15 between 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Registration is not required but appreciated. Breakout room topics include location, family-focused, adult-centric and uniquely Chapel Hill.

The Community Arts & Culture is the town department coordinating this project. The division transitioned to running such town programming like the Fourth of July from Chapel Hill’s Parks and Recreation Department in 2018.

Project findings will be shared with the community in early summer, according to the town. To learn more about the project, visit the Community Arts & Culture website and to email artsandculture@townofchapelhill.org to receive the Zoom link for Thursday’s discussion.
