Durham Technical Community College announced the next step in finding its newest president on Monday.

The college’s Board of Trustees revealed its selection for a search firm and a group of representatives from the school and community to oversee Durham Tech’s nationwide search for its next president. The school has been preparing for the search since President Bill Ingram announced last October he will be retiring in June after serving as president since 2008 and at Durham Tech since 1983.

John Burness, the chair of the Board of Trustees, appointed the search committee and will serve as its chair.

“I have appointed a broadly diverse 16-person presidential search committee,” Burness said in a release, “consisting of nine trustees, including the College’s SGA president and student trustee, five community leaders from Durham and Orange counties, and leaders recommended by the Faculty Association and Staff Association.”

In addition to the search committee, Durham Tech contracted executive recruitment and consulting firm RPA Inc., of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to aid the search.

According to the college, the committee aims to select 10 to 12 candidates by early spring and then narrow the pool down to four finalists by early May.
