The eyes of the world are on Ukraine, whose people have been fighting back against a Russian invasion for two weeks. Governments, nonprofits, and major corporations have all taken steps to help — but what can we as individuals do?
Here are a few of the organizations that are raising money to support the people of Ukraine.
International Organizations
- The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is providing humanitarian assistance for displaced people both inside and outside Ukraine. https://www.unrefugees.org/
- The Red Cross of Ukraine is providing first aid, medicine, food, clothing, training, and transportation for residents. https://donate.redcrossredcrescent.org/ua/donate/~my-donation?_cv=1
- United Nations Crisis Relief is collecting donations to transfer to local humanitarian organizations. https://crisisrelief.un.org/ukraine-crisis
- UNICEF is focusing on Ukrainian children, providing humanitarian supplies including first aid kits, medicine, safe water, and mental health care. https://www.unicefusa.org/
- The International Rescue Committee is working with local organizations in Poland and Ukraine to provide needed supplies to refugees. https://www.rescue.org/
- CARE’s Ukraine Crisis Fund is seeking to provide food, water, first aid kits, money, and other supplies to four million Ukrainians. https://www.care.org/
- Save the Children is working to provide affected families and kids with winter kits, hygiene kits, education, mental and psychological support, and cash for food and medicine. https://www.savethechildren.org/us/where-we-work/ukraine
Medical Aid
- Razom for Ukraine is focusing on purchasing medical supplies and delivering them to facilities and individuals in need. (“Razom” is Ukrainian for “together.”) https://razomforukraine.org/
- MOAS (Migrant Offshore Aid Stations) is working to provide medical aid and first response services to Ukrainians impacted and displaced by the violence. https://www.moas.eu/
- Project CURE is raising funds to send medical supplies to hospitals within Ukraine. https://projectcure.org/
- Project HOPE works to deliver medicine and other supplies to Ukraine and other crisis spots around the world. https://www.projecthope.org/
- Doctors Without Borders is working with displaced refugees on the Ukrainian border and rushing medical supplies to hospitals and facilities within Ukraine. https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/
- Sunflower of Peace is a US-based nonprofit working to distribute first aid, medicine, and other medical and humanitarian supplies to Ukraine. https://www.sunflowerofpeace.com/
Food

- Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen is providing food to refugees at the Ukrainian border and supporting chefs who are helping feed displaced people within Ukraine as well. https://wck.org/

- United Help Ukraine is raising funds, clothes, and medical supplies for injured Ukrainians and Ukrainian families. https://unitedhelpukraine.org/

- Come Back Alive in Ukraine provides assistance to the Ukrainian armed forces. https://www.comebackalive.in.ua/
Donate or Volunteer
- Ukraine Now is raising funds, but also organizing volunteer efforts and finding people willing to house Ukrainian refugees after they make it across the border. https://www.ukrainenow.org/
- Nova Ukraine is also soliciting volunteers as well as donations to help frontline workers inside Ukraine. https://novaukraine.org/
Local Organizations
- Locally, the Ukrainian Association of North Carolina is organizing relief efforts and rallies across the Triangle. https://www.facebook.com/UkrainianAssociationNC
- New Life Ministries (based in the Triangle) is working to get financial and material support to orphanages within Ukraine. https://www.nlminfo.org/
