Popular Chapel Hill restaurant Sup Dogs is offering a $100 gift card reward for information after one of its outdoor tables was vandalized.
According to a police report and video provided by Sup Dogs, the outdoor table at 107 East Franklin Street was vandalized at 12:50 a.m. early Monday morning. Sup Dogs posted the video on social media showing two men walking up to the restaurant, tipping the table over and walking away.
Sup Dogs is among the many restaurants along Franklin Street to set up more outdoor seating options to accomodate customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although gathering restrictions have largely been lifted, many restaurants along Chapel Hill’s main road are still offering plenty of outdoor seating.
Sup Dogs owner Bret Oliverio told Chapelboro earlier this year that his restaurant is still feeling a major impact from fewer customers.
“We are a super high volume busy restaurant and we’re struggling to make money,” Oliverio said. “Unless you are a quick service place or a stop and go pizza place – full service independent restaurants have taken it on the chin. The next few years are going to be extremely tough for independent restaurants.”
