Orange County authorities are investigating an attempted carjacking south of Hillsborough Thursday afternoon.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office posted a message on social media that a heavy law enforcement presence was in the area of Davis Drive and Ode Turner Road around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Ode Turner Road connects Davis Drive and Orange Grove Road south of I-40.
Authorities said in an update around 2:30 p.m. Thursday that “deputies believe the perpetrator left the area in a vehicle.” The search in the immediate area of the attempted carjacking has been discontinued, but the investigation is ongoing.
No injuries were reported as part of the incident.
Officials described the suspect as an armed black male wearing a black and white shirt and white shorts.
