The Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest connected to several breaking and entering cases in the northern part of the county on Tuesday.

Investigators captured and charged 32-year-old Brandon Howell faces four counts of breaking and entering and four counts of larceny after breaking and entering. The sheriff’s office said Howell allegedly stole from residential properties and commercial businesses in the Caldwell and Rougemont communities during December and January. Among the items reported as missing were cash, tools, guns, scanners for car diagnostics, a motor and a truck.

Howell, who is currently a resident of Durham County, also faces two counts of injury to personal property, two counts of larceny of a firearm, one charge of larceny of a motor vehicle, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said its investigation also linked Howell to several similar crimes in nearby jurisdictions, with additional charges expected to be shared soon. Tuesday’s release also indicated at least one other person is believed to be connected to these thefts.

Howell is in the Orange County Detention Center under a $85,500.00 secured bond and is slated to next appear in court for his charges on Monday, February 7.

The sheriff’s office said anyone who may have additional information about Howell or these breaking and entering incidents is asked to contact an investigator at 919-245-2915.
