A New Hope Elementary School teacher has been suspended from his position as the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating allegations he possessed child pornography.
Authorities said Thursday evening that a search warrant had been served against Stefan Winfried Anders in connection with a possible child pornography case.
“Multiple computers and electronic devices were seized,” according to the sheriff’s office.
The investigation began with a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, officials said.
“The next step in the investigation is for us to review the evidence seized pursuant to the search warrant. At this time, we are unaware of any students at New Hope Elementary being the subject in any of the photographs,” Orange County Sheriff’s Office investigator Ashley Woodlief said in a release.
Orange County Schools issued the following statement to WCHL Thursday evening:
“The teacher named in the search warrant is currently suspended from Orange County Schools. School system staff are working with law enforcement as they conduct this investigation. This is a serious matter, and we will keep student safety as our top priority.”
Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at (919) 245-2900 or Woodlief directly at (919) 245-2925.
