The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is charging a Georgia man with multiple felonies in connection with a forged check, cashed outside North Carolina, tied to funds stolen from a Chatham County resident.

The sheriff’s office says it first received a report about the forged check on Jan. 10. Investigators then reviewed a check-cashing transaction for $50,000 at a PNC Bank branch in LaGrange, GA, where bank surveillance footage showed a man presenting the check to a teller, who then cashed it. Investigators have since identified the man as 28-year-old Bryan Roger Chandler of Temple, GA, roughly 35 miles west of Atlanta.

Chandler is charged with felony uttering forged endorsement, felony forgery of instrument and felony obtaining property by false pretenses. The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office says he has not yet been served with the charges, and a court date has not been set.
