A teacher who has worked in the Orange County School System as a substitute is under investigation for sending inappropriate messages to students at Hillsborough’s Cedar Ridge High School.

Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood confirmed that the investigation was underway.

Raleigh TV station ABC11 was first to report the investigation as a Cedar Ridge High School teacher being the subject under scrutiny. The outlet is reporting the teacher is “accused of taking naked pictures and sending them to former and current students on social media.”

Orange County Schools officials said the teacher under investigation was not a full-time teacher and is not currently working as a substitute at any school in the system. A system spokesperson added that the district is cooperating fully in the investigation.

Blackwood said in an email that he is “confident in the leadership at the school, and we are in constant contact with Dr. Wirt and his staff as we move forward.”
