UNC reported two additional COVID-19 clusters around campus on Wednesday, the day that undergraduate classes are shifting online due to the spread of the virus on campus.

Per an AlertCarolina message, the two clusters are at the Morrison residence hall and Zeta Psi fraternity house. Morrison is the fourth residence hall to have an outbreak, while Zeta Psi joins Sigma Nu among the fraternity houses.

The individuals in these clusters have been identified and are isolating and receiving medical monitoring, said the release. The Orange County Health Department has also been notified and the university is working with the county to identify additional potential exposures.

This comes after UNC announced that it will transition undergraduate classes online due to the spread of COVID-19 on campus. The university reported that 130 students tested positive for coronavirus last week — the first week of classes for the fall semester.

Four COVID-19 clusters were previously identified around UNC’s campus over the weekend: three in residence halls and another at the Sigma Nu fraternity house. Of the 924 tests administered last week, 13.6 percent returned positive, an increase from 2.8 percent the previous week.

The university said on Monday that 349 students were in quarantine, both on and off campus.

UNC’s ongoing COVID-19 dashboard is updated every Monday with the results from the previous week’s tests.
