Two businesses recently opened their doors in Chapel Hill’s Governors Village, offering experiences for a variety of ages — a sensory gym for kids and a wine boutique for adults.

Minds of Every Kind Sensory Gym

Celebrating its grand opening May 21, Minds of Every Kind Sensory Gym offers an inclusive environment where children with disabilities can play, learn, and thrive.

Located at 50101 Governors Drive, the play space is designed to support neurodivergent kids and their sensory and developmental needs, with soft play, swings, fidget zones, and quiet corners, according to a release.

Open play encourages children ages 2-10 to explore the sensory gym at their open pace, while summer camps and preschool sessions offer structured play, hands-on learning, and sensory-friendly exercises. The gym also serves as a space for private birthday parties, designed for those who might find traditional venues overwhelming or overstimulating.

In the release, BOLD Commercial Real Estate Broker Lewis Hendricks described the venue as a perfect match for the area.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Esteban Brunello Wines to Governors Village,” Hendricks said. “This concept is a perfect fit for the community—a blend of world-class experience with a warm, neighborhood feel. Esteban’s passion and expertise will bring something truly special to Chapel Hill, and we’re proud to be part of making it happen.”

Brunello brings three decades of experience to the Chapel Hill community. Trained in winemaking at Cornell University, he is also known for his leadership at acclaimed restaurants in San Francisco and his ventures Bar Brunello and Brunello Wine Bar in Durham.

The boutique will feature wine selections from around the world, including Brunello’s own creations developed in collaboration with Asheville’s Pleb Urban Winery and the Republic of Georgia’s Rosha Wines. The Chapel Hill wine shop also plans to host wine education events and tastings.
