A new restaurant plans to begin serving Chapel Hill customers this week with authentic Mexican food.
Que Chula Tacos, a craft tacos restaurant and tequila bar on West Franklin Street, will officially open for takeout and delivery beginning Thursday, May 7.
According to the restaurant’s website, its initial open was slated for April. But following the coronavirus pandemic and the executive order for North Carolina restaurants and bars to not serve dine-in customers, the new eatery adapted its plans.
Que Chula is the latest restaurant to open in the 140 West Franklin Street area. Until last July, Hops Burger and Bar was at the location before closing down after nearly two years, with Lime Fresh Mexican Grill being in the space prior. Old Chicago Pizza occupied an adjacent space in the lot before closing in 2017.
The new restaurant’s hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
