Market Street Coffee took to social media on Thursday to announce the permanent closures of its Chapel Hill and Carrboro locations, citing the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as the deciding factor.

“Given the ongoing pandemic, it appears that will not be safe for quite some time,” the shop wrote on its Facebook account. “When we reach the end of our lease, we decided the time has come to take a pause.”

Market Street Coffee had been open since 2012 and had two locations in the area: 100 E Weaver Street in Carrboro and 227 South Elliott Road in Chapel Hill.
